These 3 short and sweet tips will help you work the room like a fireball: effectively, and with less stress, and more fun.
🤗 1. Less Pitching … More Personal Interaction.
Less rehearsed sales scripts ... more in-the-moment conversations.
Instead of stressing over selling yourself, be truly present, listen to the other person, and build on that. Let them experience you for real, not from a script. These interactive, human conversations are critical to nurture connection and trust.
⏰ 2. Less Time … More Teasing (!)
Do not dump a 5 minute sales pitch on a stranger.
Start with your teaser, aka highlight reel, aka your exec summary. This teaser should be just a few relatively short sentences, and under 60 seconds. Seriously. The goal is to deliver just enough information to elicit questions, like "That's interesting. Tell me more about __________".
👥 3. Less Quantity … More Quality.
Don't focus on meeting as many people as possible at an event.
Instead, prioritize quality interactions with a handful of people. This way, you'll build a foundation, have more substantive discussions, and remember each other better. Which will make following up much easier, and more effective.
